I found the hotel to be a mixed bag. The location was stunning, offering spectacular views of the canyon, which definitely made the trip worthwhile. However, the rooms felt outdated and could use some serious refurbishing. The parking situation was tough and check-in was a bit of a hassle. Overall, while the place has its charm, it might not be the ideal choice for everyone.

The rooms were quite dated, with concrete walls and dark hallways, but they were clean and well-maintained.

Service was adequate, though check-in required going to a different hotel, which was not convenient.

My stay at Thunderbird Lodge was a mixed bag. The breathtaking view of the Grand Canyon right from the lodge was absolutely stunning and made for an unforgettable experience. However, the check-in process, parking situation, and the condition of the room left much to be desired. The beautiful scenery is a major plus, but the overall comfort and amenities could use improvement.
Rooms
5.0
While the room was clean, it felt small and had a funky smell. The damp carpets were a bit concerning, and noise from neighboring rooms was disruptive.
Service
6.0
The service was adequate, but the check-in process at the neighboring hotel was a bit confusing. It would have been nice to have clearer communication.
Location
10.0
The location is phenomenal with stunning views of the Grand Canyon right outside your door, truly allowing you to immerse yourself in nature.
Dining

We ordered pizza from the village which was fantastic and plentiful, providing us with leftovers for lunch the next day.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities were limited, and the parking situation was quite frustrating as it took a long time to find an appropriate spot.

Staying here was a memorable experience with the canyon just steps away, making it perfect for breathtaking views and easy hikes. The room was clean but on the smaller side, and the parking situation can be tricky. Additionally, the dining choices were somewhat limited, but the proximity to the rim was unbeatable.
Rooms
7.0
The room was clean and accommodating for our family, though a bit tight. The air conditioning worked well, but the musty smell took some time to adjust to.
Service
6.0
Parking was quite the challenge; I had to get creative to find a spot, especially since there were many daytrippers. Check-in was smooth, but the absence of designated hotel parking was frustrating.
Location
10.0
The lodge is perfectly situated right at the rim. You can easily access the trails and catch stunning sunsets just a short walk away.
Dining
7.0
The dining options were somewhat pricey; while I enjoyed breakfast at the nearby café, the limited selection could be improved.
Facilities
5.0
The facilities include a few candy and soda machines. However, there were not many amenities on-site beyond the basic offerings.

7.4/10
Our stay at Thunderbird Lodge was quite enjoyable overall, with comfortable rooms and gorgeous canyon views. While the Wi-Fi was unreliable and parking could be tricky, the location right on the Rim made it worthwhile. The property isn’t luxurious, but it offers good value for what you get, especially if you're looking to be close to nature and the Grand Canyon.
Rooms
8.0
The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a great view of the canyon. However, the shower was a bit low for taller guests.
Service
7.0
Check-in was at the nearby Bright Angel lodge, which felt a bit inconvenient, but overall, the service met our expectations.
Location
9.0
The Lodge is perfectly located by the Rim, providing easy access to the Rim Trail and beautiful views of the canyon.
Dining
6.0
Dining options were somewhat limited during our visit due to staffing issues, so I'd recommend making reservations early, especially at El Tovar.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were basic and lacked a lobby or common area, which was disappointing, but the room had good amenities like a coffee maker and a TV.

7.2/10
I had a good stay overall, especially because I secured a room on the rim of the canyon, which made it easy to catch stunning sunrises and sunsets. While the room was quite comfortable and clean, the hotel itself has an old dorm-like appearance that may not appeal to everyone. Unfortunately, I faced some issues with heating and Wi-Fi, which detracted from my experience. However, the convenient shuttle access and nearby dining options were definite highlights.
Rooms
7.0
The room was comfortable and clean, equipped with two queen beds, a fridge, and a nice bathroom, but it had no view.
Service
6.0
Check-in was handled efficiently at the nearby lodge, but I had some issues with heating in my original room.
Location
10.0
Being right on the canyon's rim is unbeatable for sunset and sunrise views, plus there's a shuttle stop right in front.
Dining
7.0
Dining options at the nearby Harvey House Café were decent, though the bar scene was a nice touch.
Facilities
5.0
Wi-Fi access was limited, and the general appearance of the hotel could use some modernization.
